Use JPG when compatibility matters

JPG is a common choice for photographs, forms and services that do not accept PNG. The main trade-off is transparency: JPG cannot store transparent pixels, so SwitchPic fills them with the white or dark background you select.

When JPG is useful

Choose JPG when a website, form, document or recipient specifically asks for JPEG, especially for ordinary photographs.

Choose a background

If your PNG contains transparent areas, they become your selected white or dark fill in the JPG. Check logos and cut-out graphics after conversion.

Know the trade-off

SwitchPic keeps the source dimensions, but JPG uses lossy encoding and is not ideal for preserving crisp diagrams or transparency. Keep the PNG original.

PNG to JPG questions

Direct answers about compatibility, image dimensions and what changes during conversion.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Add one or more PNG files, select JPG and choose a white or dark background for any transparent pixels. Start conversion and download the results.

Can I convert a PNG batch to JPG?

Yes. Add up to 60 supported images, with a 100 MB limit for each source file. The same JPG output applies across the batch.

What happens to transparent pixels?

JPG cannot preserve transparency. SwitchPic replaces transparent areas with the selected white or dark background.

Will JPG keep the same dimensions?

Yes. SwitchPic exports at the source pixel width and height. The encoding changes, but the image is not resized.

Is JPG suitable for every PNG?

Not always. JPG is useful for photos and broad compatibility, but PNG is usually better for crisp text, diagrams and graphics that need transparency.
